Who we are
Wandrealm is a free, fan-made co-op mod for Hogwarts Legacy. This page explains what personal data the Wandrealm website, the launcher and our servers use, why, and what your rights are. The person who runs Wandrealm is responsible for your data (the "controller" in data protection law). You can reach us at hello@wandrealm.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, the first and last name you give when you sign up and your password, which our sign-in service stores only in a scrambled form (a hash) that cannot be turned back into the password. If you sign in with Discord, Discord shares your Discord id, user name and email address with our sign-in service when you allow it.
- Your username: the name you choose once, just after you sign up. It is how other players know you, and it is also a name you can sign in with.
- Your player record: an id for your account and your username.
- Your character: when you bring a character across with the launcher, we keep a copy of that character's save on our servers, including its name, house, level, knuts and experience. We keep some earlier versions so we can put your character back if something goes wrong.
- Your realms: the realms you create or join, their names, who is in them, and when you play in them.
- Voice chat: voice chat is off until you turn it on in the launcher and accept the voice rules. When it is on, the launcher sends your voice, encrypted, to our realm server, which passes it straight on to the players near enough to hear you. Nothing you say is recorded or stored. So that we can look into reports of abuse, the realm server keeps a log of who could hear whom: for each minute, which accounts were sent which account's voice, in which realm, and how many stretches of talking each was sent. It names players by their account ids, and never holds audio, positions in the game or names. On your account we also keep the version of the voice rules you accepted and when, the players you blocked, so your blocks apply on every PC you play on, and, if the Wandrealm team switched your voice chat off, when, why and until when. Your mutes and the volume you set for each player stay on your PC.
- Text chat: what you type in the game's chat goes to our chat server, which passes it on to the players in your realm. We do not save your messages: the chat server holds them only in its memory, to deliver them and to recognise a message your game sends twice, and they are never written to our database or our server logs.
- Early access: if you tick "Email me when the launcher is ready", we keep that choice, when you made it, and your account's email address.
- Technical data: to keep the service running and safe, our servers note requests as they happen (the time, what was asked and whether it worked), and briefly hold the internet address a request comes from, for example to limit how many invite links can be opened from one place.
- Game performance reports: while you play, the mod sends our realm server a short summary once a minute: your frame rate (typical and the slowest 1%), how long frames take, how many other players were near you and how many were drawn, and how much of each frame Wandrealm itself used. A report does not say who you are, and we do not store who sent it: it reaches our realm server over your game's connection, like everything else your game sends while you play, and we keep it only as totals across all players, so we can see how Wandrealm runs and tune how many players it draws. Reports are on by default; turn them off in the launcher's Settings.
- Logs you send to support: when you press Send logs in the launcher, it sends us logs from your PC as before. The launcher also sends them automatically after a game where something went wrong, and after about half of normal games (a sample we may lower). You are asked once at the launcher's first start, with the box ticked; if you already use the launcher, this happens at the first start of the version with automatic logs. You can turn automatic logs off at any time in the launcher's Settings, and still press Send logs yourself. What is sent is the launcher's and the mod's logs from that game and the one before (including UE4SS.log), the mod's session-health counters, which count problems and other events during that game, and the mod's diagnostics file (diagnostics.jsonl). The diagnostics file records what happened in your recent games: your rides, seats and flights, where other players moved, the names of other players' characters as they joined, and how the game ran. If the game has ever crashed, it also sends the game's newest crash report (what failed; your PC's processor, graphics card, graphics driver's version, memory and Windows version; the folder the game is installed in; and your language and region settings) and a list of the crash dump files on your PC (their names, sizes and when they were written), never the dumps themselves. It also sends a description of your PC (your PC's Windows version, processor, memory, graphics cards with their drivers' versions, and screens: never its name or serial numbers), the game's graphics settings (such as upscaling, frame generation, ray tracing and quality), and the names of the other mods in the game's folder, with their sizes and when they changed, never their files. If our server ever refused one of your saves as another character's, the launcher's log holds the first and last name of the character in that save and of your own. Before they leave your PC, the launcher removes your Windows user name and your user folder's path from them, and your PC's id and the game's start command from the crash report. Character names stay. Our server stores the logs in Wasabi in the EU (region eu-central-2), and keeps their metadata, such as your account, when they arrived and their support code, in our database. You can share the code with us on Discord so we can find them; only the Wandrealm team reads them, to find and fix problems.
Why we use it
- To give you the service you signed up for: your account, your character and your realms. The legal basis is our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To email you when the launcher is ready, only if you ticked the box. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can take it back at any time by unticking the box on the Play page or by writing to us.
- To keep Wandrealm safe and working, for example to stop abuse and to find faults. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a service that works and is safe for everyone (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To make Wandrealm run well on players' PCs: the anonymous performance totals. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working game (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR); you can turn the reports off at any time.
- To let you talk with other players: passing on your voice and your chat messages, and keeping your voice rules and blocks. The legal basis is our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To act on reports of abuse in voice chat: the log of who could hear whom, and switching voice chat off for a player who breaks the rules. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping voice chat safe for everyone (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Only the Wandrealm team can read the log, to look into reports, and each look is recorded with its reason.
- To help you with a problem and fix faults in Wandrealm: the logs you send to support yourself. For these manual logs, the legal basis is our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). The logs sent automatically help us find and fix problems, including by comparing games that went wrong with normal games. For automatic logs, the legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can take it back at any time in the launcher's Settings.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or analytics.
Who else sees it
- Playing together: Players in the same realm see your username, your character's name, level and appearance while you play together, and the realms you share with them. On the website, a realm's owner can see every member's username, and members can see the owner's username, at any time, not only while playing together.
- Voice and text chat: Players near enough to hear you hear your voice while you talk. Your chat messages reach the players in your realm, under your character's name. Players you blocked do not hear you, and you do not hear them.
- Public realms: If you make your realm public, its name and your username are listed for everyone, including people who are not signed in.
- Invite links: Anyone who has an invite link can see the realm's name, its owner's username, how many players are online and how many members it has.
- Our hosting: the website, our sign-in service, our game servers and our databases run on two dedicated servers we rent in Europe from the same company. That company stores the data for us and may not use it for anything else.
- Email delivery: emails from our sign-in service, such as confirming your address, go out through an email delivery service that sends them on our behalf.
- Discord, only if you choose to sign in with it. Discord is based in the United States and handles your data under its own privacy policy.
Other players never see your email address or the first and last name you gave when you signed up.

How long we keep it
- Your account, player record and realms: while your account exists.
- Your character: your 20 newest versions, the version you brought across, and for the last 30 days one version from each day and from each of your 10 most recent play sessions, while your account exists. Older versions are deleted.
- Your early-access choice and email address: until you untick the box or delete your account.
- Technical data: only as long as we need it to run and protect the service.
- Logs sent to support, manually or automatically: 30 days, then the logs and their metadata are deleted.
- Voice chat's log of who could hear whom: 14 days, then it is deleted.
- The voice rules you accepted, your blocks and a voice-off by our team: while your account exists. A voice-off is removed when the team switches your voice chat back on.
- Text chat messages: never saved. Our chat server keeps recent ones only in its memory.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it (which closes your account), to limit how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, or object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can take it back at any time. Write to hello@wandrealm.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
You need to be at least 16 years old to create a Wandrealm account.
Changes
If we change this page, we update the date at the top. If a change matters for how we use your data, we will tell you on the website before it takes effect.
